HIGH PERFORMANCE ICE MELTS

 

 

 

       Ice Slicer:            

 

 

Ice Slicer is a naturally occurring complex chloride ice melter consisting of synergistic trace minerals plus sodium, magnesium, potassium, calcium chlorides and grit. Mined from ancient buried mineral deposits in central Utah, Ice Slicer is protected from the buildup of alkalis and pollutants. Thus, Ice Slicer is a very low corrosive ice melt. Due to its hard crystalline structure, Ice Slicer can provide immediate traction whenever applied. Some users refer to it as “dissolving sand” because it doesn’t leave high volumes of residues as it breaks down. Low Corrosive Material Research has shown that this product is lower in corrosive action to aluminum, steel, and paints than many conventional salt based deicers. With naturally occurring trace minerals and very low alkalinity, Ice Slicer is less harmful to roadside vegetation when used in proper amounts. Tests have shown Ice Slicer to be 70% less corrosive than conventional salt-based deicers, and that it does not chemically attack concrete surfaces. When end users replace traditional rock salt or chemical deicers with Ice Slicer, they can reduce corrosion to roadways, bridges, parking decks and sidewalks, as well as reduce contamination of landscaping. How Ice Slicer works is this, when it is applied to a snow covered roadway or walkway, Ice Slicer begins to dissolve and penetrate snow pack and ice, ultimately breaking the bond between the ice and pavement. The loosened ice and snow can then be easily removed. Ice Slicer’s unique natural color enables it to use the sun’s heat to provide additional melting strength. It dissolves slowly and stays on the roadway or walkway longer to help prevent freezing of new snow or ice. These two traits, plus its ability to penetrate ice quickly and deeply, make Ice Slicer more effective for a longer time than ordinary salt.

Meltdown:              

 

Meltdown liquid is a very clean version of (Road Saver) magnesium chloride, mentioned in the dust control section. It is used for both anti-icing and de-icing depending on your application needs. It works by either preventing the bond of ice and snow to form on the road surface (anti-icing) or to melt through snow that has already fallen and has frozen to the pavement (de-icing). It is 70% less corrosive than salt on roads and melts down to "+10" temperature.

The value of more product is simple economics. Magnesium chloride is the active ingredient in Meltdown. The more magnesium chloride per gallon, the more active ingredient you are getting. Meltdown offers greater melting capacity than lower concentrated products. More active ingredient means Meltdown can melt more snow and ice before it dilutes out. Meltdown's greater melting capacity is significantly more than just the difference in concentrations. For example, Meltdown can take on 45% more water than a 26% material on pavement temperature of zero degrees Fahrenheit. Providing a high-concentration product is nothing new. However, providing one that will not gel, causing clogged lines, tanks and pumps is new. Previously, users have been forced to trade the benefits of more product to obtain free-flowing product. Meltdown breaks the mold by offering a 30% concentration that readily flows in sub-zero temperatures.

Apex:

Meltdown apex is THE ONLY product that will deliver increased melting performance vs. all other liquid products across the entire spectrum of temperatures experienced in combating snow and ice buildup on road surfaces. Meltdown Apex is the result of product research and development required to meet that goal. Meltdown Apex is a performance enhanced magnesium chloride (MgCI2) brine but is vastly different than other magnesium based enhanced products. Rather than add in substantial amounts of additives that work alongside the MgCI2 in order to improve performance, we opted to simply improve the performance of the MgCI2 itself without diluting the concentration of the active ingredient. Simply put, we have taken MgCI2 and made it Better - Faster - Stronger. Meltdown Apex has many applications, included are Anti-icing, De-icing and can also be used as a pre-wetting agent for sand and salt.
 

PNS Corrosive Test

The Pacific Northwest Snow fighters (PNS) coalition has adopted a test based on a modified version of NACE TM-01-69 to measure and rank de-icing chemicals in terms of relative corrosion toward ferrous metals. In this test, distilled water and salt are assigned relative corrosion rates of 0 and 100 respectively, and deicing chemicals are ranked according to these two standards. To be considered for use in the PNS states, a de-icier must score 30 or less (70% less corrosive than salt) on this scale. In this test Meltdown Apex has been found to have an average score of 22%.


 

 

Apogee:

 Apogee was developed as a performance based proprietary non-chloride anti-icing/de-icing liquid. Apogee is not an acetate base like many non-chloride products. Apogee is the result of research and development to provide a non-chloride which will perform in low temperatures, low corrosion rate, and fill the void for a non-acetate based product.
